Pixelworks designs, develops and markets visual display processing semiconductors, intellectual property cores, software and custom application specific integrated circuits ("ASIC") solutions for high-quality, energy efficient video applications. The Company also offers solutions for advanced media processing and the efficient delivery and streaming of video. The Company’s primary target markets include smartphones, tablets, digital projection systems, high-quality video infrastructure equipment and over-the-air (OTA) streaming devices.

Pixelworks’ core visual display processing technology intelligently processes digital images to optimize content for a superior viewing experience. Additionally, the Company’s video coding technology significantly reduces bandwidth constraint issues to enable seamless delivery of high-quality video, including OTA streaming, while also maintaining end-to-end content security. As of 2019, Pixelworks’ intellectual property portfolio included over 350 patents related to the visual display of digital image data. Ongoing research and development efforts are focused on advanced video algorithms that improve quality, and architectures that reduce system power, cost, bandwidth and increase overall system performance and device functionality.
